I don't know your reference (ikr), but it sounds like you could simple clamp pitch and yaw (on the view type) ? You may also be able to disable the look input on the Unity Input to prevent the pitch and yaw changing.I've figured out that the character controller should be in 3rdperson adventure mode. But I still can't figure out the camera. It should be fixed (not movable) and following on top (slightly angled) but will adjust if there is an obstacle.
